Matthew 7:21-23
²¹"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. ²²Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' ²³Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

  Phanatik hits the nail on the head in the Cross Movement song "Closer to You" when he says God wants
"more than Sundays, more than cliches
What you want is for me to obey
And if I can't give that, I can't give jack
You don't want just my hands without my heart attached
Without my heart to match, my lip service is dead as artifacts
Though I call it worship..."
   So if just going to church, yelling holy, holy holy and falling out in the Spirit ain't keepin' it real...what is? If there are people are feeding the poor, driving out demons, and healing the sick who are going to hell…then how do I know I’m not? Authentic Christianity is marked by a number of things. True Christians have a deep and driving love for the Lord that makes them want to be in His presence. We are aware of our own sinfulness and acknowledge our need for a Savior. We have a desire to please God by following His commands. There is a repulsion towards sin instead of a desire for it.  We live with a joyful anticipation of the rapture and Christ’s eternal reign. People can see a genuine lifestyle change (I’m not what I’m gonna be, but I’m not what I used to be!). Our actions are characterized by love, not the sappy, sit there, smile and make everybody feel good kind, but the over-all wearing, mud on your shoes, blisters on your hands, truth on your lips kind.
  In his  booklet “Is it Real?” John MacArthur  proposes 11 Biblical Tests of Genuine Salvation.
